RTR- Week 12&13

I’m back with more. Although I think this is my last installment like this. I’m not sure. I think it might be getting a little boring. Both for me to write it and for you to read it. Or I have to figure out a new way to write this.

Trina Turk - Kailee Top

Retail $228.00. I can buy for $136.80. I actually really love this. It’s super comfortable. I think I might wear it to my interview on Thursday. I have a job interview and I’m not nervous cause I don’t know if I want it. I love it but not enough to justify spending that much on it. (I didn’t get the job).

I am wearing this to work on a monday. So far lots of compliments including one saying it reminds them of a shirt their mom would wear. I’ll take that as a compliment. But really, I feel good in it. And it’s really comfortable. The only think I didn’t love about this is that my hair is to my shoulders so either it was popping up in the back or like tucked in to the collar, which felt a little weird to me.

Caslon - Spacedye Cardigan

Retail for $99.00. I can buy for $59.40. I really like this too. It’s got pockets! I love this sweater. I wore it over the weekend taking my kids out to the mall and then to work one day. I am almost thinking about buying it. It’s just that it’s a very loose knit and it’s very easy to pull. I’m going to keep it for another weekend and then send it back on Monday. It’s just goes with everything and it’s very easy to throw on.  I didn’t even use the pockets but I liked that they were there and I liked the length.

STINE GOYA - Makayla Top

Retail for $270.00. I can buy for $81.00  . There are matching pant to go with this too. If I love the top I might rent the pants too. This hits right at the hip. I usually like my shirts a little longer. I will not be buying this but I will wear it to work one day.

I am wearing this today. It’s silk, so it’s very light. I have a feeling I am just going to feel cold most of the day. I do like it though and I like the way it fits. I might rent this again in the spring with the matching pants.

Ronny Kobo - Viola Cardigan

Retail $388.00. I can buy for $213.40.  I rented this because I liked the colors and I thought it would be perfect for work for  valentines day. It fits like a blazer and it’s pretty big, I am not sure if it would look better in a smaller size. I will wear it with Black pants and boots.

I am glad it’s Valentines day today because I feel like a Valentine. I do like the colors but this is definitely not something I would ordinarily wear.  But that’s the whole point of this, right?

Amanda Uprichard - Green Finch Top

Retail $170.00. I can buy for $59.50. This shirt is alright. Nothing special. It feels nice on, not to tight, not to baggy. The only thing I am not to fond of is that it seems hard to wear a tank top under it so it very much shows where your pants end. Also, there are high slits on the sides.. It’s fine because I am wearing kind of high pants. I wouldn’t wear pants that hit on the hip with this shirt.

Fifteen Twenty - Blue Button Up Blouse

Retail $176.00. I can buy for $140.80. I wore this with black pants and boots. I like it. Not for $140.80, but it’s nice and I really like the color. The sides have slits so it hides any belly and I needed that today after indulging all weekend.

Fifteen Twenty - Grey Draped Duster

Retails for $143.00. I can buy for $100.10. I wore this all weekend and I really liked it. It was warm and looked nice and it has pockets! I did like it but I had to send something back so I could get something else for later in the week, so back this goes today.

kate spade new york - Heartbeat Smocked Top

Retails for $228.00. I can buy for $205.20. I will wear this tomorrow. I like it though. I like the look of it. And it fits well. I will not buy it for that price but I will wear it to work.

I might keep this going a little longer but I think I am going to stop the weekly or biweekly reviews. Maybe do a monthly review of the things I loved. I don’t know. I feel like this is getting a little repetitive and boring. The entire point of all this was to try a new service and see if it was really worth it and honestly, I think it is. I am happy to try new clothes. I love having a never ending closet.

It’s been a few months now and as much as I wanted to hate it, the only con I can really think of is that sometimes they don’t have the thing I want in my size when I want it AND I wish I had more spaces so I can get accessories too. Also, sometimes I try to time if so I have 2 shipments a week and for some reason sometimes it takes 2 days to get to me. That’s not a deal breaker in my opinion. I love having something new in my closet every week. I love getting new colors and prints. I will definitely recommend this service to anyone and I will keep this service for a while.

Rent the Runway Weeks 10 & 11 – Review

So much fun stuff these past few weeks for me. Lets get Started:

Trina Turk - Lila Sweater Top

$178 Retail. $53.40 to buy. I liked this so much I wore it twice. I won’t buy it but I loved the color and I felt good in it. I wore this with navy pants and then with black jeans and boots. Both times I felt really good and comfortable.

Cinq à Sept - Side Stripe Lana Pants

$345.00 Retail $145.70 to buy. Um, no. But they do have a fun pink detail down the side. It’s missing the clasp on top but I plan on wearing a sweater over it, so it should be okay. I enjoyed wearing these. They were fun and I felt good. I wore them once to work before sending them back. My coworker liked these too.

Equipment - Amrit Sweater

$325.00 and $97.50 to buy. I wore this twice. Once with the pink pants above and once with black jeans. One coworker said I looked like a Ref at a kids soccer game. I like it. I liked the length of the sleeves. Even though the sweater was kind of heavy, it has holes in it, so I was still a little cold. I’m sending it back.

Threads of PRVLG - Splatter Paint Hoodie

Retail $197.00. I can buy for $165.35. This I ordered for last weekend and didn’t get it till Monday so I am wearing it this weekend. It’s nice. It’s like a sweater and not a sweatshirt. I will be sending this back Monday but I plan on wearing it all weekend with jeans and white Reebok’s.

I actually love this sweater. I have been wearing it all day and I am comfortable and warm. I am going to wear it all night too… And tomorrow. I will not buy it for that price but I will wear it for as long as I can until my next shipment comes Monday and I have to send it back so I can get something else.

Joie - Chasa Sweater

Retail for $348.00. I can buy for $208.80. I rented this for work and I actually love it. You can’t really see in this picture but it has braids down the front and sleeves. I plan on wearing it again one more time before I send it back next week. First,  I wore it with light green work pants and boots. Next, I wore with black checked pants. Both times I felt great.

kate spade new york - Silk Point Collar Blouse

Retail $368.00. I can buy for $202.40. I am wearing this on a Monday. It’s comfortable and I feel good in it. I feel bloated from the snacks and booze over the weekend and this shirt is loose enough where I feel like I look put together but also I can breath. So that’s good. I don’t think I am going to wear it more than once though.

Parker - Maxwell Sweater

Retail $328.00. I can buy for $131.20 . I rented this because a month or so ago I rented a different color of this same sweater and I loved it. I am really excited that this was finally available in my size. This came and it seems much smaller than the one I had before I even went back to check the size that I previously ordered. Same size, same sweater, same designer, different color. I am wearing it right now with white pants. I have received lots of compliments and I am happy I wore it even though it is smaller than the other one that I loved. I won’t buy it but I will wear this at least one more time!

I am really loving this service. I am going to keep it for a while even though my rate is going up this month. I wish I could afford more spots but I think I am getting the hang of it and the timing of if I order on this day, I should get a shipment this day. Or if I send it back this day, I can order however many the next day. I do wish they had more jeans that weren’t skinny or high rise.

If you are interested in trying this service out, please consider using my referral link. You get $100.00 off and I might get an extra spot for a month.

Rent the Runway – Week 9!

This week I think I might change it up a little but first:

Ramy Brook - Alston Pants

Weekend comfy pants. Retails for $345, I can buy for $207.00. That’s not going to happen but I can wear them all weekend. I am going to mail back these pants, the jeans and at least one sweater Monday and pick some new things for next week.

I didn’t end up wearing these much. The elastic waist was really tight and I didn’t like that it cut in. It wasn’t uncomfortable but I felt like it made me look fatter. Like a muffin top but I’m wearing stretchy pants? I don’t think that’s a good look for me. I liked the material and I liked the big pockets. I wore them around the house a bit but when it was time to go out, I switched to the jeans.

Prabal Gurung Collective - Grey Embellished Sweater

I picked this for the end of the work week. It retails for $240.00 and I can buy it for $168.00. It has good reviews so I hope I love it.

I do love it. I am wearing it today and I already got 3 compliments. It’s a good weight, warm and I like the little embellishments. I can’t wait to pick out my next shipment.

Tory Burch - Colorblock Madeline Cardigan

I picked this for the end of the work week as well. Retails for $248.00 I can buy for $173.60. Nope. I sized up according to the reviews and hope it fits well.

This does fit well. I am wore it last Thursday and I liked it a lot. I will probably not wear it twice but I felt good in it. I got a few compliments at work. I like the orange on this. It gives it a pop of color.

Citizens Of Humanity - Charlotte Straight Jeans

These jeans retail for $258.00. How could jeans be so expensive? They’re Jeans. I mean really. I can buy them for $103.20… These didn’t fit at all. No stretch at all. I couldn’t wear these.

MONROW - Cheetah Print Zip Up Hoodie

This hoodie retails for $176.00. It’s a hoodie. I am looking forward to this. I have been wanting to try a cheetah print anything for a while but I don’t want to invest in it.

I can buy it for $158.40. No. First of all it’s short, like cropped. Is that the style now? I did wear this to book club and I got a couple compliments. But I am returning after 1 wear. It’s just big, like wide big and I kept tugging it down because it’s short. It was a fun wear for one day but it’s going back today.

I think I am going to cut the Rent the Runway updates down to every other week. It’s been 2 months now and I am still loving this service and trying new things. I want to start branching out too and trying some of the accessories as well. I haven’t posted anything about that because I haven’t tried any. I’ve been loving the clothes so far. I also need to branch out and try a dress or two. The whole point of this was for me to try new things and a sweater with pants is not really a new look on me at all. Baby steps though.

Rent the Runway Week 8

Happy New Year!!! 2020!!

This week I’ll be getting back to a couple work clothes and a couple weekend clothes. I sent 2 pieces back on Monday and got the go ahead to pick two more Tuesday morning. Since tomorrow is New Years day I won’t be receiving this shipment till Thursday. Once I get that I’ll mail back the 2 things I kept and pick 2 more.

As much as I want to hate this and the price of it, I am having such a blast trying things that I would never normally try. I mean, I would never even try on a sweater that has a price tag over $60.00 just because I have to shop for everyone in my family so I try to get good deals on everything. Spending so much on one piece of clothing seems crazy to me but spending $130.00 a month and getting to try all these things (while still expensive in my mind) is really fun right now.

Anyway, let’s get to it!

First I picked this:

KAUFMANFRANCO - Carbon Knit Cardigan

This Carbon Knit Cardigan by KaufmanFranco retails for $1195.00… I don’t think I have Ever worn anything that expensive before. It’s got 4 out of 5 for reviews and I am hoping to love it. Also, it has pockets and that matters a lot to me for some reason. I can buy it for $358.50.

I love this sweater. It’s super comfortable. I feel awesome in it. I plan on wearing it all weekend. I’m not buying it, but I will wear it until it’s time to send back Monday for the next shipment.

I actually did wear this all weekend on my errands and I am wearing it again to work on Monday. Is that gross? I don’t know but I really love it. I will be a little sad to send this back.

Midheaven Denim - Augustine High Rise Skinny Jeans

I picked these jeans because they look long and have alright reviews. A lot of the jeans seem to be ankle length and I feel like it’s too short a lot of the time. I am hoping these are not too long. I’m 5’6 and a lot of the positive reviews are from people 5’7 and taller. These are by Midheaven Denim and retail for $288.00. We’ll see. I can buy it for $259.20.

These are long and really high waist. I didn’t mind the length too much, I thought it was alright. What I minded was the buttons up to above my belly button. There wasn’t much give in these jeans either and I didn’t think it was worth being uncomfortable at all when I can just send them back and pick a new pair. So back they go with the two sweaters from last week.

Next I picked:

Derek Lam 10 Crosby - Geo Print Pullover

I liked this sweater, it has good reviews so I figured why not. It says it retails for $395.00. I can buy it for $158.00.

I really like this Sweater. I love the fit and the weight. I have already received multiple compliments on it at work and it’s still morning. I will not buy it but I might wear it one more time before sending it back.

(nude) - Pink Pom Sleeve Sweater

I picked this sweater for the fun design and pop of color. Rent the Runway says it retails for $395.00. I can buy it for $158.00.

Wore this to work with black jeans and brown heel booties. It’s super cute, not tight and a good warmth. I am wearing a white tank underneath and the arms are a little scratchy. Not anything super annoying. I have received one compliment on it already. I like the way it hangs. I like the color. I like the way it looks. I feel really good today. I would consider buying this if there wasn’t a little hole in the sleeve. Ehh, I can always rent again. Back it will go.

Levi's - 501 Skinny Jeans

And because I am always on the hunt for jeans I picked these. Good old Levi’s. Pretty good reviews on this and it retails for $98.00. I am hoping I love them and these I might actually be able to afford at the RTR discount. We’ll see. I can buy these for $78.40.

I wore these out to dinner with my daughter and I really like them. I’m not going to buy them, but I will keep them till the next shipment and wear them. The only thing I think that’s really weird about them is the 6 or 7 buttons on the fly. I know they are high waist but it seems like an excessive amount of buttons. Maybe that’s just me and I really only need to unbutton like 3 or 4 to go to the bathroom so it’s not a huge deal.

I like the color, the fit is growing on me. The legs are a little tight for me but I think these might give a little as I wear them. I am going to keep wearing them for the weekend.

I really love this service. I feel more confident in my appearance and I am loving trying on new things. I have told about 10 people at work about it. Even some people I never spoke to before who just told me how much they liked something I was wearing. I really want to not like the service because of the monthly fee but I am having a lot of fun picking new things. Seriously, I get so excited when I see the email that they received my return and it’s time to pick something new. I wish I could add more slots so I can have more than 4 things at a time, but I won’t because it’s an extra $39.00 each. In another month my monthly fee with increase to $150.00.

I will keep the service for a while. So stay tuned for more reviews… Also, if you are interested in trying out this service, please consider using my referral code:

Rent The Runway- Week 7!

These next few weeks I am off most of the week. I am only working on Thursday and Friday so I decided to get more clothes for just hanging out.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby - Tuxedo Stripe Sweatpants

I picked these sweatpants for Christmas. They retail for $395.00 and Rent the Runway says I can buy them for $158.00. I can not justify spending that much right now on a pair of sweatpants. However, these are very comfortable. I wore them all day for Christmas and then last night and I will probably wear them every night until I send them back Monday. They are super comfortable and not like a regular sweat pant material, they’re more like a sweater. They haven’t stretched out and they are loose and nice. I might have to try more expensive sweatpants in the future! These will go back though.

MSGM - Maglia Rose Cardigan

I am renting this for going out on the weekend. Its retails for $668.00 and has really good reviews. I am hoping to love it as well.

I do like this, the only thing I don’t like is there are no pockets in it. But I wore this out to dinner and to run errands and it had a good length and good weight and warmth so I didn’t need a jacket at all. I can buy it for the low price of $600.75. No, thank you! But I did love the colors and I did enjoy wearing it.

VINCE. - Wool Tie Front Tunic

This sweater retails for $425.00 and I like the look of it. I hope it fits nice.

It fits alright. I plan on wearing it out either today or tomorrow or maybe not at all. The strings on this are really long and I have no idea how to style them. I can wrap them around my waist 3 times and still the string hangs almost to my knee. I might wear it to run a few errands today. It’s a really soft and warm material and I bet once I figure out the strings it would look good. Maybe?  I can buy it for $382.50. Nope.

MOTHER - The Springy Ankle Jeans

These jeans retail for $258.00. I am honestly just looking for some funky, different jeans. I hope they fit well.

Okay. I wanted to love these jeans. I just wanted to try something a little different and I am glad I did. I like these jeans. I sized up per other peoples reviews and I probably could have just picked me actual size because they are loose jeans. The waist is stretchy making these jeans comfortable to walk and sit and just move easily. I can buy them for $232.20… No.

After a while of wearing these I felt more and more like a mom. Mom jeans. Maybe because the brand of these jeans is Mother? I don’t know. I just started to really understand what people mean when they say “mom jeans”. Loved the huge pockets in the front, there are no pockets in the back. I might wear these one more time to confirm my mom jean feelings but these are definitely going back.

These reviews of this service and clothes are mine. I pay for my monthly unlimited service. If you are interested in trying rent the runway, please use my link. You get $100.00 off and so do I, win win for everyone.

Rent the Runway Week 5!

Got hit with the $126.56 monthly fee. And that’s the rate for the first 4 months… Then it goes up $40.00 more per month. Honestly, it’s still worth it to me right now. I am having a blast trying new things and I am feeling good. I have been getting compliments from people I know and people I don’t know. It’s really nice. Picking things out and returning them is really easy, there is a UPS on the way to my husbands job so he usually drops it off in the morning and the next day it is back in Jersey and I get to pick out something new.

I wish I could have 3 bags though. So I could cycle everything a little faster. I tried to do that last week by only ordering one thing and it wouldn’t let me. I guess maybe it’s the shipping fees for them? I don’t know. Maybe I can try to request an extra bag to see what happens. I’ll keep you posted.

These are the 4 pieces I picked next and the review:

Parker - Grey Maxwell Sweater

I LOVE this sweater. I wore it to work with guess…. Yes, black pants and my boots. I’m still a little predictable. I feel amazing in it and it feels amazing on. It snowed here last night and the weight of this piece is really nice and warm. I got a compliment from someone in my department and then a compliment from someone I don’t even know in the kitchen. I almost didn’t know what to say cause it’s really new to me. I have given other people compliments but I don’t usually receive them for my clothes. I am honestly considering buying this sweater but I noticed on the website there is another one in different colors from the same designer… So I think I might rent that when I can. I actually kept this for the weekend too and wore it again to a birthday party  got compliments and felt amazing. There is another one that is different colors. I am planning on renting that one soon. But I don’t think I love this enough to fork over almost $100.00 for a sweater.

Slate & Willow - Navy Plaid Trousers

Ok. I am wearing these today with boots and a black sweater. These are awesome. I love them. I love the fit. There is an elastic in the back so they actually form and fit and the pockets don’t stick out! They go to 2 inches above my ankle. The fabric is stretchy and just fits my body well. I really like these. The only issue is that the fabric is also on the thinner side and it’s below freezing here right now. I think I might rent these again in the spring. I did get a couple compliments on these pants but the best part of all of this is that I feel better.

I have never been one who was into fashion at all. I love a great pair of jeans and a crispy white shirt and some sneakers. That’s my outfit all day everyday but this whole experiment has really made me realize how much fun fashion can be. Just trying new things and feeling great in your clothes.

For the weekend I ordered Jeans and a sweatshirt. We’re going to a Mariah Carey concert on Sunday so I plan on wearing this, as long as it fits. I wanted to be a little more festive because Mariah Carey Christmas is Festive  but I couldn’t find the red sweater I had in mind.

Citizens Of Humanity - Emannuelle Slim Bootcut Jeans

I ordered these honestly because they were the only jeans that looked long enough to cover my ankles. I don’t get why jeans are so short now. Hello, it’s winter! These fit and fit well and I love them but not enough to fork over $170.00 to own them. Do people really spend that much money on a pair of jeans now? I mean maybe I am doing it wrong. My most comfy jeans I own are either bargain banana, gap or Walmart. I did buy expensive jeans once before kids but even then they were like $100.00  not almost $200! Damn. Any way I am wearing these everyday till I send them back this week.

Side note : I wore these and some man followed me around the art supply store calling me Monica even though I informed him my name was definitely not Monica. In my head, Monica never called him back after a bad date.

Joie - Macrina Sweatshirt

I like this sweatshirt. I read a couple good reviews on it. And it fit nice. The only issue for me is it’s kind of cropped so I have to tuck in my tank top. I usually don’t tuck in my shirt. But that doesn’t matter to much because the jeans fit like a glove. I feel good in this. I’m not tempted to buy it for $79.00 though. Even at that discount, it’s a sweatshirt.

I sent everything back but the Jeans. Next week is going to be a little more relaxed because Christmas!

Rent The Runway- Week 3 and 4

This is a combined review because there was Thanksgiving and then my daughters birthday.

These 2 I received right before Thanksgiving:

3x1 - 3x1 x Jason Wu Denim Trousers

I LOVED these jeans. They were super comfortable and I got lots of compliments and I felt great in them. I might rent them again and possibly buy them.

Tanya Taylor - Floral Antia Top

This one had noticeable wear on it. It was nice and fit nice but one sleeve had a few pulls in the fabric and one of the strings that hangs off was missing the bottom. I wore it to work and received some compliments but come Thanksgiving I opted not to re wear it.

These are the 4 pieces I picked after sending my Thanksgiving picks back.

I wanted something different so first I picked this velvet vest.

Velvet Hana Vest by La Petite Robe di Chiara Boni

I really liked this. My husband said I looked like a wrestler which I guess is a compliment? My coworkers at work who I barely talk to stopped to compliment me. Some touched me because it’s velvet and pretty. The girls at the front desk had lots of questions about what “rent the runway” was. I really did like this as something different and fun to wear. I felt good and confident in it too. And I loved the big pockets! The only downside was that the front flaps kept folding forward so I kept fixing it but that honestly wasn’t that terrible. The inside reminded me of a scuba suit but the outside was beautiful. I would have kept it to wear again but I now look forward to trying new things every week. So back it went.

Olive Blouson Sleeve Shirt by Fifteen Twenty

I wore this with black pants and boots. I liked it. It was comfortable and the poof in the sleeves had me feeling a little like a chef or an artist. I got a few compliments. The fabric was thicker which was nice because it’s chilly in these parts at the moment.

Tie Dye Hoodie by Proenza Schouler White Label

I rented these 2 pieces for my daughters birthday weekend. According to the website this sweatshirt retails for $325.00. I wanted to try it out to see what on earth could be so special about a sweatshirt to justify it being so expensive… Turns out, nothing. It was a hoodie and while it was comfortable, I didn’t think anything special about it. I actually prefer my husbands hoodies to this.

The Cropped Boot Cut Jeans by Current/Elliott

These pants had a really weird length. like right above my ankle. So they weren’t quite capris but not exactly what I consider regular jean length, which would be to the top of my shoe at least. I spent a lot of time pulling these down but then I felt like I had a baggy butt. I wanted to love them but I didn’t. Back they go with the way overpriced sweatshirt.

I can’t wait for my next shipment! Honestly, I really want to hate this service but I can’t. I am having a lot of fun trying new things and I feel like my closet is never ending now.

If you are interested in trying, please use my link. You get $100.00 off your first month and I get $100.00 off a month for me too (which is a huge help!)! https://rtr.app.link/e/gcgO9OGRj2

Rent the Runway- Week Two

Okay, I was so happy with my last selections, I let my husband pick out the next 4 pieces as well. I sent the first 4 back Saturday and I got the email this morning (Tuesday) That they received them and I can pick my next 4 pieces. Here we go!

I love that you can heart pieces so they are there when you are ready to pick your next shipment. I don’t love that they may not have your size available. I get that it might be rented already, but I wish that they just didn’t show it if it’s not available.

Image result for rent the runway on doorstep free image

I ordered these Tuesday (11/19) Morning and they were out to be delivered to my front door (11/20). Pretty cool, right? I can’t wait to get home. I think I am going to wear the dress tomorrow then the pants and then send those two things back so I can pick something pretty for Thanksgiving!

First the Dress:

Donna Morgan - Green Knit Ruched Dress

I never have warn a dress to work before. Ever. I have worn a long skirt on a summer Friday, but never have I worn a dress. So right off the bat I feel uncomfortable and I haven’t even put it on yet. Plus, I have to find shoes tonight. Probably my closed toed black or cream heels. That’s provided the dress fits and looks alright.

Update:

Unfortunately, I will be returning this dress. I love it. It felt great on and it was really comfortable and forgiving in the belly area. The problem was it was really sparkly. I can’t wear this to work, it’s more of a holiday party dress, in my opinion. My husband loved it too so I told him to find a place to take me out and I will definitely rent it again.

Next the Pants:

Equipment - Green Bergen Pants

I’m planning on wearing these Friday. I have to see this in person to pick my shoe or rest of my outfit.

Update:

I have to return these. The fabric is really thin, there is like a pouch between the waist and where the legs start on me. It’s just not flattering on me. I was a little disappointed because these looked super cute on the pictures online. Oh well, back they go!

I am returning these two pieces and I hope to pick 2 new ones for next week.

Turtleneck Sweater:

Thakoon Collective - Camel Cross Front Turtleneck

I am not a huge Turtle neck fan so this was an interesting pick. I plan on wearing this Monday.

Update:

I wore this Thursday in place of the dress. I like it. It fits well and feels like my normal type of outfit, so I am comfortable in it. The sweater is soft and not too heavy. It feels like I have a warm blanket on over my black jeans and black tank top.

Sweater #2:

A.L.C. - Helena Sweater

I love the look of this one. I hope it fits as good as it looks. I plan on wearing this Tuesday next week and possible for Thanksgiving if I love it. Although I will be cooking and probably hot so we’ll see.

Update:

I am wearing this one today. I like it. I got a couple compliments on it so far. It’s heavy and warm. It’s a little bit short for me, I like my sweaters a little longer but I feel good in it. It’s a little scratchy around the collar but not terrible. I will be returning this tomorrow and ordering something new for next week.

I have two pieces on my doorstep right now that I plan on wearing for Thanksgiving. I hope they fit well. It’s a pair of jeans and a blouse.

Rent The Runway – Review

*This is my personal opinion. I paid for the first rental and my monthly membership. *
My sister in law told me about Rent the Runway. She rents dresses and she always looks so pretty so I figured I would give it a shot.
I rented a dress for a wedding and I absolutely loved it. I felt amazing and pretty and wonderful. So I thought, why not feel like this all the god damn time?
This is the dress below, isn’t it gorgeous?

I talked to my husband and signed up for the monthly membership. $160 after 3 months, $120 for the first 3. It seems steep to me but  you get 4 pieces at a time. And you can switch them all month. They have to get it back before sending the next shipment. It could be one or all four. Depending on if you want to keep any for a bit.
My first shipment is 2 pants and 2 shirts.  I came home to them sitting neatly packaged on my porch. I was so excited. I tried them on immediately. Everything but one shirt felt great. One shirt was a little short for my liking. I will wear it but I already have a feeling I will be tugging it down all day.  The other sweater felt big but it’s a sweater so I’m going wear it with the green pants and see how that feels.

I’ve been in a huge funk lately with clothes. I have 3 pairs of pants I love so I rotate them all week with 5 sweaters and a tank top under. I’m looking to refresh my look. So. Here we go.

Day one:
Today I am wearing the green pants and the stripped sweater. I felt good after getting dressed, asked my husband how I looked, he said “Great.” I walked out the door to bring my kids to school.

The pants are pull-ons and they feel comfortable, like sweatpants without the sweat pant insides. The sweater is heavier than I thought but I like it. They both feel like polyester. Thick polyester. Which is fine now because it’s one of the coldest days of the year today. But might not be fine on a warmer spring or fall day. I am not really sure what the fabric was, I didn’t look. Whoops.
We got to school and my kids said “you should get those pants again for St. Patrick’s Day.” And so began my doubt in this outfit. I got to work and my coworker loved the sweater. She said it looked great on me. She said she probably would have choose black pants and wore the green pants with a black shirt. I went to the bathroom to look at my combination again and to tell myself I looked okay. Which I do. I decided I wanted tea at some point and walked halfway down the hall and I heard people in the kitchen so I turned around and ran back to my desk. This has more to do with me being terrible at small talk and a little to do with me wearing something that I know a lot of people have never seen me wear. I need to be more confident. That’s what this experiment is all about. Overall though, I really like both pieces. The pants do feel a little loose and the pockets are really shallow and towards the end of the day the stretch gave a little and I felt like I had to keep pulling them up. Not a deal breaker. I just have to hold my phone. I would order these pants again maybe in a size smaller and a different color.

Day Two:
Wearing the Black and white pants, white tank top, and a black cardigan. I feel great! Pants fit great, the fabric is a little thin so I am cold because it’s freezing outside, but I like these pants a lot. I think maybe I went to bold on my first time out with colors. My husband assures me I looked great but I felt a little insecure. But today I am in my primary colors. Black and white and I am way more comfortable and confident today. I still didn’t make into the kitchen to get my hot water for my tea, but that’s mostly because I hate small talk. I really do and I really need to work on that.

Day Three:
Today I am wearing the Floral top. I originally tried this on and thought “Nope.” Not that I didn’t like the shirt I just didn’t like it on me. I felt like I was going to be tugging it down all day.  I put it on this morning with my black gap jeans, black tank top and brown boots and I actually love my outfit today. I have to get a little use to the top but I like it a lot. Getting in an out of it is new because I have never worn a wrap shirt before. And I have to agree with the other people that it’s very open, I need to wear a tank top underneath. But I really like it. My coworker said it was really pretty and my husband said I looked really cute this morning before I ran out the door. I did make it into the kitchen for tea today. Go me!

I was thinking the other day that I was feeling kind of bad about the cost of renting per month. Even at the reduced rate it seems like a lot to me. I was thinking of just doing it for a month because I already paid and then ending it but now I am thinking that I feel really good. I am looking forward to returning these items tomorrow and picking out 4 new ones next week. I will continue posting my Rent the Runway adventures over the next few weeks.

The return is very simple too. They provide a return label in the bag so you just put everything you are returning in the bag, zip it up, replace the UPS label on the front with the return label and drop it off at a UPS. I am already looking forward to my next 4 pieces!
