I have some vitamin/hormone/thyroid issues. After the holiday’s I decided that it was time to take better care of myself. Not necessarily for me, but for my husband and kids. So I have been going to the doctors, and a psychiatrist and trying to get more active, take my medicines and vitamins.

Last appointment my Psychiatrist suggested that I try a gluten free diet. He is happy that I am starting to feel much better and he thinks that going gluten free may help me feel even better. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos Disease but my thyroid is still functioning fine so I am not on any medication for it, I just have to go back yearly to check my hormone levels.

He said since it’s auto immune maybe we can play around with my diet. He suggested I try Gluten Free for at least a month to see if I might feel better overall. But it’s all or nothing. I can’t like sort of be gluten free. He asked if there was anything that would be really hard for me to replace and I said Pizza. Pizza is my favorite thing. He laughed and agreed that there really is no amazing substitute for pizza.

So I am going to try it. I started yesterday. I did find a place that makes gluten free pizza and there is a grocery store that has a pretty good cauliflower crust pizza… It’s going to be hard but I am going to try this for at least a month.
Has anyone else gone gluten free? What’s your experience with it?
I don’t need to be gluten-free, but I definitely need to be better at looking after my body and health. I’ve made huge changes but do let old bad habits creep in. This was a good reminder to get a grip on things!

We have been gluten free for about a month and have definitely noticed changes. We are cutting it back to mostly gluten free, so we don’t create an intolerance where there is none. I hope this works for you!

I have not, but I have a few friends who have and they really felt better after eliminating gluten from their diet.
