September… Goodbye summer. I will miss you!

I am back to work, summer Friday’s are officially over and I am actually feeling sad today. I usually love fall, it’s my favorite season. Besides the crisp weather that’s perfect for jeans, t shirts and a sweatshirt (my favorite outfit of all time), my birthday just happens to be in the beginning of Fall too.Ā  This year I am not loving it.

Fall means winter is around the corner and I feel like this winter will last FOREVER. Once the clocks change I feel like I will be living in the dark for like 5 months. I wake up, it’s dark. I leave work, and it’s dark. And then it’s cold, who wants to go outside and freeze? Ugh.

I am just really not looking forward to this winter. I have been feeling so much better physically and mentally and I am honestly scared that I’ll fall back into that dark hole I was in this past January. I am going to try to keep that in mind and I also spoke to my husband. He’ll check me if he sees me slipping. I feel like I have more support this winter, but I also feel like I am just over this weather in general. I don’t want New England winter anymore. I think I need a change.
What’s your favorite weather?

  1. Sometimes it takes everything we’ve got just to focus on plugging forward, and that’s okay! I feel like too many people get caught up in always having to be ‘okay’ and it’s not realistic. I respect the fact that you’re already acknowledging how this may impact you and your life, that’s a huge step!

  2. I personally love autumn, but that’s only because I live in the desert, and it’s been so HOT this summer! I’m sorry you’re worried about fall/winter and you’re mental health. I know that can be tough for a lot of people. Maybe you and your husband can get a way for a little bit this winter to escape the cold and darkness! Again, I live in the southwest and the winters here are really pleasant, so I recommend visiting here. No snow and it basically just feels like a really cold fall! šŸ˜‰

  3. Leaving 8 years in a city known for its grey and cold weather, I grew to find the beauty in winter too: weekends under the blanket with tea and a good book; winter markets drinking hot wine; the quick steps in the cold to a welcoming bar to meet friends.

Don’t get me wrong: I still much prefer Spring and Summer. But Winter has its own charm, I’ve found out.
