Hi! I can’t believe it’s February. My son’s school quarter is ending this week and then they are half way done with the year. I can’t believe it’s been a year almost since we have all been home. My friend who works at a hospital was saying that a year ago they just started getting the emails about Covid. It’s crazy.
I filled in the school forms for the kids. We’ll be home for the rest of this school year. I really hope that come fall, they will be able to go back. My job is still remote. So is my husbands. For my job there is no talk yet of when to return. My boss seems to think that come summer we’ll all be heading back in. I think that’s a little optimistic. Especially since we’re only on the second phase of vaccine sign ups right now. I did make my appointment but it’s not for another 3 weeks. That was the earliest I could find and I still feel bad about that. I think that there are probably other people that need it before me. My boss and his boss both said that if you get a chance to take it, and you want it, you should go ahead and get it. I will go in a few weeks. I think even if we do start going back into the office in the summer, it will be a staggered entry and probably not everyone at once or at the same time. We’ll see what happens.
I have been reading up a storm. I finished Shuggie Bain and I really liked this book. I do recommend picking it up. It’s not a happy book and for a lot of it, I truly felt bad for the main character. I also really understood other characters in the book. In the beginning, getting used to the Irish slang, pronunciation and how they talked slowed me down a little. Some of it I had to read a couple times before I got it. I did get the hang of it and in the end I was glad that it was written like that. I think it’s really interesting to read how other places in the world speak.
The lying Life of adults was a good book. I definitely identified with the main character in that she was a 13 year old girl navigating that terrible time of new emotions, hormones and between growing up and not quite there. The ending made me feel sad and hopeful for Giavanni. I would add this to your list if you are looking for a interesting read.
This book was nuts. I really liked it. I did not realize that it was part of a trilogy though and this was the second book. The third one I hope is still being written. I am going back to read the first book “Damned”. It’s about a 13 year old girl who is in hell and gets stuck on earth after not making it back to hell on Halloween. It’s just a really crazy story and it’s gross and funny and ridiculous but very entertaining. Yes, pick it up!
That’s it for me. Happy February! Nothing much is going on for us this month. What about you? Any plans? Have you read any great books lately?
